Clay County Amends Emergency Order; Requires Face Masks Beginning July 19th
On July 15, 2020 The Clay County Public Health Center amended the Clay County Public Health Emergency Order Amended 07012020 to require all employees or visitors to any indoor public accommodation to wear face coverings in an area or while performing an activity which will necessarily involve close contact or proximity. The Public Health Emergency Order goes into effect at 12:01 A.M. on July 19th, 2020 and will expire at 11:59 P.M. on Sunday, August 23rd.  You can see the entire Order by clicking HERE.

As a result of this Public Health Emergency Order, the Lawson R-XIV School District will require students to wear masks indoors at summer school beginning on Monday, July 20th, 2020. This requirement will be in effect through the end of summer school on Friday, July 31st, 2020. Staff are already required to wear masks while in close proximity to students. CDC guidance strongly recommends that children over age ten wear face coverings. The Order does provide exemptions of which schools are included as Essential Government Functions. Therefore, the District, will proceed with an understanding that some children, especially younger students, may have difficulty complying with the face coverings requirement.
