The major updates include: 1) Per DHSS “ If the school has implemented a mask mandate, and appropriate masks were being worn correctly by both individuals during the time of exposure in the school setting, the individual who came in contact with the person with COVID-19 does NOT have to quarantine at home.
It is important to note key pieces of this new guidance. First, this only applies for close contact designations AT SCHOOL. Secondly, this guidance requires appropriate mask wearing by BOTH individuals. Additionally, this revised guidance does not "authorize a close contact to participate in school associated sports, extracurricular activities or any other activities outside of the school setting. A student, however, CAN attend the practice or contest, they just can NOT participate.
Secondly, Remote Non-Virtual Instruction will be discontinued as an option for learning at the end of the first semester, December 18, 2020.
All students currently in Remote Non-Virtual Instruction during the first semester will need to return to In-person learning for the second semester or pursue the Virtual Instruction option. Remote Non-Virtual Instruction will be utilized for those required to quarantine by the county health department.
Lastly, Beginning with Winter Sports Activities; At all contests, regardless of level or gymnasium location, Food and Drink will NOT be allowed in the gymnasium during a contest.
The term ‘Food’ includes all candy. While concession stands will still operate, all items purchased from concession and/or brought onto the premises from outside sources will be consumed in the commons areas and NOT allowed into the gymnasium. This measure is being implemented as a COVID-19 mitigation effort promoting the health and safety of our custodial staff while they perform duties of cleaning & disinfecting of the gymnasiums after a contest.
All of these new provisions are in effect as of 3:00pm, Friday, November 20, 2020. Should you have any questions regarding the updated "Remain-In-School" plan, please do not hesitate to contact your Building Principal or the Superintendent's office.
