August 19, 2021
The Lawson R-XIV School District Board of Education approved the 2021-22 Remain in School Plan, also known as the Safe Return and Continuity of Services Plan (SRCSP) at the regular August Board meeting on August 18, 2021. Thank you to survey respondents in assisting us in gathering valuable information. Ultimately, the county health department recommendations or requirements guide our COVID-19 procedures, but the stakeholder feedback is important to formulate our plan.
Lawson RXIV’s 2021-2022 Remain In School Plan states that facemasks are ALLOWED for all students, staff members and visitors. Overall, 77% of survey respondents indicated their support for 'facemasks are ALLOWED'. Our COVID-19 mitigation measures also include social distancing of at least 3-feet while in the District’s buildings. Symptom monitoring for all students and staff are an important step in preventing the spread of COVID-19.
Should you or your child(ren) experience symptoms of COVID-19, do NOT send your child(ren) to school until they are symptom free PLUS 24 hours without medical aids. For example, if a student were to leave school with a fever on Monday at 1pm, then it would be most likely Wednesday morning at the earliest that the student would be allowed to return.
As for quarantine, we have prepared a chart to assist your understanding of when quarantine may occur should a student be designated as a close contact.
Our top priorities are keeping students, staff and visitors safe while striving for a learning environment free from COVID-19 interruption. Thank you for your cooperation and assistance. The District will assist health care agencies in advertising vaccination events when they occur. Should you have any questions regarding protocols or the Remain in School plan (SRCSP), please contact the building principal or superintendent’s office.
