Last night the volleyball program participated in the annual Pink Out event against Lathrop High School. Thank you to all that attended and helped show support for our honoree, Kayle Rice.
C-Team started the evening, battling through a tough match but ultimately fell 1-2. JV then fought hard for a 2-0 win. Varsity ended the night on a high note with a 3-1 victory.

Mrs. Baney is the ISS and Launch instructor at Lawson High School. According to the seniors, Mrs. Baney is very good at engaging with and supporting the students at Lawson High School. Volleyball travelled to East Buchanan tonight and left with a huge conference win, with a 3-0 sweep! JV also came away with a 2-1 victory. Go Cards!
The Cardinals put together four solid quarters for a 34-15 conference win over West Platte.
Football Week 6 Teacher/Staff Member of the Week
The week 6 Teacher/Staff member of the week is Mr. Wes Florea! Coach Florea is the Physical Education teacher at Southwest Elementary. The seniors have great memories of P.E. while at Southwest! Coach Florea made a huge impact on them while they were in Elementary school, and he continues to impact many of the seniors as a coach. Thank you, Coach Florea, for all you do for students!

Volleyball traveled to Chillicothe yesterday for a Varsity tournament. Cardinals played well and came away with a 3rd place trophy!

Varsity Softball hosted the Plattsburg Tigers tonight for what became a thrilling KCI contest. These teams went back and forth until the Cardinals won 8-7 in the bottom of the 9th inning.
JV continued the winning ways by winning 7-1.

For week 3, the seniors have chosen Mrs. Sharon Embrey! Mrs. Embrey is a Family and Consumer Sciences Teacher at Lawson Middle School. The seniors talked about how they never knew if she was having a bad day because she was always happy! They are also very thankful for her efforts in helping facilitate Young Life. Mrs. Moore is a Kindergarten teacher at Southwest Elementary. Many of the seniors had her as a teacher when they were in 3rd grade at Southwest Elementary. The seniors highlighted how she brings positivity and kindness to the school, showed them excellent music videos to help them learn concepts in class, and how awesome of a job she does singing the National Anthem at our baseball games. Our softball team finished the Cameron Tournament with a 12-2 victory over Lathrop in the championship of the silver division. They went 3-1 on the day and currently stand 4-1 on the season.
After a 16-3 victory over Benton, our Cards play Lathrop in the Championship of the Silver Division of the Cameron Tournament. Keep those bats hot!!
Our Lady Cardinals came out of pool play ranked 2 with a 1-1 record today in the Cameron Softball Tournament. There is still time to come cheer us on at 4:30 vs Benton in bracket play.
Our Lady Cardinals traveled to Raytown tonight and won in three straight sets - 25-12, 25-19 and 25-8. JV also won in two sets. A great start to 2024!
Football Week 1 Teacher of the Week
Each week during our football season, the senior football players are going to pick a Lawson School District Teacher/Staff member to recognize. The seniors were tasked with choosing someone who has made a positive impact on their lives. For week 1, the seniors chose Coach Ryan Burton as the Teacher/Staff Member of the Week! The seniors recognized Coach Burton for his consummate positivity and how he always asks them how their day is going when he sees them in the hallways. Senior Chase Jones shared how much of an impact Coach Burton had on him and others when they attended Young Life Camp this past summer. The Lawson Cardinal Football Program is proud to acknowledge Coach Burton for making a positive impact on our students! #WeAreLawson
