The Lawson R-XIV School District wants to remind you to vote tomorrow, Tuesday, April 2, 2024. The District will have a No-Tax-Increase Bond issue on the ballot. The money from this bond issue will be used to Maintain Existing Facilities, Enhance Safety Measures, Modernize Classroom Tech and Equipment, and Improve Accessibility for those with Disabilities.

What will the cost be for individual taxpayers if the issue is passed?
Thanks to sound financial management, Lawson R-XIV can ask for a bond without raising taxes.
The $6 million bond will not require an increase in the district’s current debt service levy. Approval of the April Bond Issue will continue at the current .95 cents levy, the set rate since the mid-1990s. This is a result of the sound stewardship of past superintendents and Boards of Education in finding opportunities for refinancing existing bonds for better rates and making early pre-payments on principal. We will continue carefully monitoring our debt and interest rates to save taxpayer dollars.

Thank you to all of our students and parents for making Book Fair a magical time in promoting reading! Both our Fall and Spring fairs were a great success in helping add new books to our elementary library. We sold over 1200 books at the Book Fair to families! I can't wait to get new title options in students hands soon. In library class we were also able to zoom conference with several authors and illustrators leading up to the fair. I enjoy partnering with all families in encouraging a love of reading.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PRESCHOOL SURVEY:
The Lawson School District plans to expand our preschool program for the coming school year (2024-2025). This survey intended to gain input from the community regarding specific program considerations. The preschool program would be for young learners that are 3 and 4 years old. All students entering the program must be fully toilet trained. Please help by taking a few minutes and completing the survey if you have early childhood-age children now or in the future.
