Unfortunately Mother Nature has not been kind to Lawson Athletics this week. The 2024 Lawson Invitational has been canceled. We did not make this decision lightly and worked all week to find a window to get games in. That window never opened. A huge thank you to all who helped.

Exciting News: Lawson BOE approves launching a 7-12th grade Agriculture Education Program and FFA Chapter!
The desire of the Lawson school community to have an Agriculture Education Program and FFA Chapter has been a long time coming! The formal process for approval of the program started in December of 2023 with the adoption of the school district's 2023-2028 Strategic Plan. Expanding career education learning opportunities was listed as a goal in the plan, focusing on expanding our offerings to include agricultural education.
We are thrilled to announce that during the December 20th Board meeting, the recommendation was made by Superintendent Stephenson to expand career education programming for the 2024-2025 school year to include a 7th- 12th grade Agriculture Education Program and Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter. This recommendation was made after working through a year-long plan to ensure community, parent, staff, and teacher feedback was gathered and our student body had an interest in what the expanded programming could offer. The Board of Education approved the recommendation with a 7-0 vote. This initiative marks a significant step forward, providing students with valuable skills, knowledge, and experiences in agriculture.
With the approval of the program, we look forward to providing more opportunities for students interested in developing leadership, public speaking, and communication skills and, at the same time, learning the value and importance of teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, and time management, along with entrepreneurial, technical, and practical skills.
We are confident that with time, our Agriculture Education Program and FFA Chapter will contribute to the holistic development of our students and prepare them for successful futures in agriculture and related fields and life as a whole.

Due to inclement weather, tonight's Invitational games have been postponed.
Due to weather, we have moved up tomorrow night's 1st round games of the Invitational to 4 pm. The lower level boys games vs Savannah in the MS Gym have been postponed.
Lawson boys basketball fall 38-27 to LeBlond in the first round of the LeBlond tournament. They will be back in action at LeBlond tomorrow (12/28) at 2:30.
December BOE Spotlights
During their recent board meeting, the Lawson BOE has the opportunity to celebrate and recognize outstanding Lawson community members Rich Busby and Jeff Andersen.
Rich Busby was recently recognized at the state football championship games in Columbia, MO, by MSHSAA for 25 years of service as an official.
Next, the Board recognized Jeff Andersen. The Missouri Football Coaches Association recently awarded Coach Andersen the “Doug Potts Award” lifetime achievement award for his 29 years of dedication to Lawson students as a teacher, football, and wrestling coach.

On a night when Lawson's own Coach Mitch Comstock was honored by Orrick High School for his 2014 District Championship, the Lady Cards and Boys' team gave us all something to celebrate. JV boys won 37-32, varsity girls won 59-29, and varsity boys ended the trifecta w51-39

Along the way, they, and a group of bratty children, navigate the perils and hijinks of the factory, all in the quest for a lifetime of chocolate! A wonderful adventure for the whole family and more!
Auditions are open to 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade.
Auditions will be on January 9th after school in the SPAC.
Callbacks will be on January 11th after school in Mr. Sanchez’s room. (we will be done before the talent show rehearsal!)
Crew forms will be due January 12th to Mr. Sanchez.

Our 1st Annual Hoops for Hope Girls' Basketball Shootout will be Thursday, Dec. 21st. Proceeds raised will be donated to the Triple Negative Breast Cancer Foundation. Come see 5 great match-ups for a great cause.
Janee' Kassanavoid apparel is in! Community members who ordered can pick up shirts in the high school office during school hours on Thursday and Friday. Those unable to pick up during these times can pick up at the game on Friday where Janee's accomplishments will be recognized.
Cardinal boys basketball swept the Cameron Dragons with a 37-17 C-team win, JV won 45-33 and the Varsity capped off the evening with a 67-38. Basketball will be back on the court Friday as we host Lathrop and recognize Lawson graduate and Olympic hopeful Janee Kassanavoid.
Lady Cardinal basketball was back in action last night. The JV girls came away with a 35-10 win over the Cameron Dragons while the Varsity came up short with a 34-35 defeat. #WeAreLawson
