Boys Sectional Basketball
Our Varsity Boys Basketball team took on East Buchanan on Tuesday night at home in the Class 3 Sectional game and dropped a 64-38 decision to the Bulldogs.
The Cardinals found themselves down 22-12 at the end of the 1st quarter and were able to cut into the lead during the second quarter, as they trailed 32-23 at the half. However, we could draw no closer the remainder of the game and ultimately fell to the Bulldogs. Brogan Crawford led the Cardinals with 16 points and Andrew Phipps tallied 10 points.
Congratulations to our Varsity players, manager, parents, Coach Belcher, Coach Comstock, Coach Brinkley and Kayla Brinkley, our athletic trainer, on an outstanding season that culminated in the Class 3 District 16 Championship last Saturday. We are extremely proud of these young men and how well they came together to overcome many obstacles and much adversity throughout the season to claim a district title for only the 6th time in school history.
Our entire program would like to thank our students, staff and the entire Lawson community for their tremendous support during our District title run last week, at home on Tuesday night and throughout our entire season. The atmosphere in our gym on Tuesday was phenomenal and it was so great to see the Lawson Cardinal spirit shine through and we hope to see that same spirit and enthusiasm carry over to our other activities and return next season.
As the 2023-2024 Basketball season comes to a close, our Boys Basketball program and the Lawson community have much to be proud of and celebrate for what we accomplished this year. We are looking forward to building on these experiences we shared this season to become even better in 2024-2025. Thanks again to everyone for their continued support of our program. It is a great day to be a LAWSON CARDINAL!
