Lawson Students Participate in MIZZOU High School Choral & Vocal Festival
Lawson, MO — On Monday, September 29, three Lawson High School students — Emily Fisher (12), Jasaan Johnson (12), and Emma Thompson (9) — traveled to the University of Missouri–Columbia to take part in the prestigious MIZZOU High School Choral & Vocal Festival.
The festival began with an early morning departure and offered students a full day of immersive musical experiences. Participants worked with MIZZOU School of Music faculty and guest conductor Dr. Brandon Williams in two of Columbia’s most renowned performance spaces: the Missouri United Methodist Church and the historic Missouri Theatre.
Throughout the day, students engaged in master classes, attended performances by MIZZOU students, faculty, and the University Singers, and rehearsed alongside other talented high school musicians from across Missouri. The festival concluded with a culminating performance of Requiem and A Jubilant Song.
The Lawson School District congratulates Emily, Jasaan, and Emma on representing Lawson with talent and dedication at this state-level music event.
