Lawson Senior Aleah Johnson Selected for Missouri All-State Choir for Second Consecutive Year
Lawson, MO — Lawson High School senior Aleah Johnson has been selected to the Missouri All-State Choir for the second year in a row, a distinction achieved by only a handful of Lawson students since the choir’s inception in 1974. Aleah was one of only four altos selected from the Northwest District, underscoring her exceptional musical talent and dedication.
Prior to the All-State experience, Aleah completed eight hours of mandatory district rehearsals before traveling to Osage Beach, Missouri, where she joined 191 of the top high school vocalists from across the state for rehearsals held Wednesday, January 28, through Saturday, January 31. The 2026 All-State Choir was conducted by Edith Copley of Flagstaff, Arizona, who guided students through a dynamic and meaningful musical program exploring themes of love, laughter, loss, joy, perseverance, and the power of music.
The experience culminated in a final concert performed for family, friends, and educators as part of the 88th Annual MMEA In-Service Workshop and Conference. In addition to the performance, All-State Choir members had opportunities to build lasting friendships, collaborate with peers from across Missouri, and explore post-secondary music and educational pathways.
Lawson R-XIV School District congratulates Aleah Johnson on her hard work, commitment, and outstanding achievement.
