Lawson Theatre Department Spotlighted at March Board of Education Meeting

The Lawson Theatre Department was proudly featured during the March Board of Education meeting, highlighting the remarkable impact of the arts on students and the broader school community.

Theatre is a powerful tool for personal and professional growth, allowing students to explore new avenues of expression, build confidence, and develop skills that help them thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Students shared how meaningful it is to create, take risks, and grow in a supportive, risk-free environment where challenges and even failure are treated as opportunities to learn.

While the program may be small, it is mighty in the passion students bring to their craft and the quality of performances they share with the community. Theatre is just one more example of the real-world learning opportunities our students enjoy, made possible through the unwavering support of the Lawson school community.

The success of the program reflects the dedication and leadership of Mr. Sanchez, whose deep love for the arts is evident in the environment he fosters. Each day, he creates opportunities for students to find their voice, build confidence, and participate in a space where they feel safe, valued, and accepted.

In addition, students are embracing new technology and learning to use it responsibly, opening doors to even more dynamic and impressive performances both live and recorded. Many students cited the ability to create and experiment as a major highlight of their experience, expressing joy in trying new things and growing as performers.

As Kermit the Frog famously said: "Well, I've got a dream too, but it's about singing and dancing and making people happy. That's the kind of dream that gets better the more people you share it with."

That spirit continues to thrive in Lawson Theatre, inspiring both students and the community alike.
