Lawson R-XIV School District Announces Mrs. Amy Olinger as Southwest Elementary Assistant Principal for the 2026–2027 School Year
The Lawson R-XIV School District is proud to announce the selection of Amy M. Olinger as the next Assistant Principal of Southwest Elementary for the 2026–2027 school year. Mrs. Olinger will be officially hired pending the Board of Education's approval at their April 15, 2026, meeting.
Mrs. Olinger brings more than two decades of experience in elementary education, with a strong focus on early literacy, instructional coaching, and student-centered learning. She currently serves as a Title I Reading teacher at Southwest Elementary, where she has played a key role in supporting student growth and strengthening reading instruction across grade levels.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Olinger has served in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, literacy coach, and interventionist. Her experience includes implementing targeted reading interventions, leading data-driven instructional practices, and collaborating with teachers to improve literacy outcomes for all students.
Mrs. Olinger is widely respected for her collaborative leadership style, deep understanding of literacy development, and commitment to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families. During her interview, Mrs. Olinger spoke at length about her desire to bring a deep love of education and a strong commitment to students, parents, and staff to this role. She also emphasized her sense of responsibility in serving the community she proudly calls home.
She has been recognized for her excellence in education, including being named Lawson VFW Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2023 and Westview Elementary Teacher of the Year in 2015.
“Mrs. Olinger’s passion for student learning, her expertise in literacy, and her dedication to our school community make her an outstanding addition to the Southwest Elementary administrative team,” said Michael Stephenson, Superintendent of Schools. “We are excited to see her build upon the strong foundation already in place and continue to help move the building forward.”
Mrs. Olinger shared her enthusiasm for the new role, stating, “It is an honor to serve the students, staff, and families of Southwest Elementary in this capacity. I am committed to fostering a positive, supportive learning environment where every child can succeed.”
The district looks forward to Mrs. Olinger’s leadership as she begins her role in the 2026–2027 school year.
