The Lawson High School Apparel, Textiles & Fashion class had a history tour of Kansas City focusing on the Garment District. Students got to taste a variety of culinary delights while learning about the different areas of Kansas City. Students visited the River Market and sampled The City Market Coffeehouse and viewed the Missouri River from a lookout point. Then they traveled to Quality HIll overlooking the Missouri River, KC airport and West Bottoms before stopping at the Garment District statue and museum. The bus drove them by the Community Bookshelf, Government District and made another stop at the Crossroads District where they observed the local art work, ate lunch at Grinders and sampled a delectable bite of Christopher Elbow’s chocolate. On the return ride home, the bus made a final stop at Betty Rae’s Ice Cream shop; a favorite.

Lawson Middle School and High School are teaming up to host a Veteran's Day Celebration on Friday, November 11th. Students are encouraged to sign up and invite a veteran to the celebration. OPAA will provide breakfast at the high school commons beginning at 8:30 am. LMS choir will also be performing during that time. Following breakfast, there will be a 5th through 12th assembly in the high school gym, and students will get to sit with their veteran. Students wishing to invite a veteran are asked to sign up on a list in the high school or middle school office.

Today Mr. Stephenson met with our high school student council leaders and discussed what makes Lawson a special place. They also brainstormed ideas for how to work together to be inclusive and celebrate every student's success. #WeAreLawson
