Highlighted Changes: *Extended Thanksgiving Break will include Monday after the holiday weekend. *Early release for students on the last day before Winter Break. *Shifting second-semester Staff Development Days to the start of January, students returning to school on Wednesday instead of Tuesday. *Spring/Easter Break is extended to include the Thursday before Good Friday. *One additional day of student instruction was added to the calendar. This change will be communicated to families during the fall semester with additional information on how the days will be integrated into the instructional process. Dr. Stephenson stated, “We want to have AMI as an option to be used in the event we see prolonged cancellations due to weather, as we have experienced over the past 2 months”. He added, “The district is aware of the stress virtual learning can cause our families, and we are preparing to utilize virtual days only when needed and to aid in enriching the learning that has already occurred in our classrooms. AMI days will not be utilized for the teaching of new content.” Key Highlights of the 2025-2026 Academic Calendar: *First Day of School: August 19, 2025 *Football Homecoming: October 3, 2025 *Thanksgiving Break: November 26, 2025 - December 1, 2025 *Winter Break: December 22, 2025 - January 6, 2026 *Spring Break: April 2, 2026 - April 6, 2026 *Senior Graduation: Sunday, May 17, 2026 *Last Day of School: May 20, 2026 The 2025-2026 academic calendar prioritizes student instruction while balancing time off for holidays and other school-related functions, essential for fostering an effective learning environment. ❄️ School’s Stuck in a Time Loop—No Classes Tomorrow, Thursday, February 20th! ❄️ Just like Bill Murray in Groundhog Day, we seem to be waking up to the same winter storm… over and over again! While we’d love to break the cycle, Mother Nature has other plans. Due to hazardous conditions, school will be closed tomorrow—again! So, set your alarm, but don’t be surprised if you wake up to the same snowy scene. If you happen to see a groundhog, ask it how to escape this endless winter! P.S. If we have to close again, we might just start offering extra credit for learning to predict the weather like Punxsutawney Phil!

🚨🚨 SCHOOL CANCELED AGAIN! 🚨🚨 NO SCHOOL - Wednesday, February 19th - We checked outside… yep, it's still frozen solid. The mysterious polar bear seen last night in the city park has been located heading north toward Cameron, and now penguins have overtaken the high school parking lot. Until further notice, stay inside, drink hot cocoa, and brush up on your penguin-waddling skills—just in case this turns into a full migration. See you when we reclaim the school! 🐧❄️🚨 #WeAreLawson

🚨 POLAR BEAR ALERT! 🚨 Reports are coming in that a polar bear was spotted in Lawson City Park looking VERY confused, swatting at the wooden Cooper The Cardinal, asking for directions back to the Arctic. 🐻‍❄️❄️ Given this extreme encounter, we have decided it best to cancel school for Tuesday, February 18th. Stay warm, stay inside, and remember: if you see a bear, DO NOT offer it your hot cocoa. See you all when the tundra melts! ☕🔥😂 #WeAreLawson
